DJ Haus

Unknown to the Unknown label boss DJ Haus draws from the rawest and rudest dance music styles on his debut album 'Burnin' Up'.

Released on Rinse Recordings, it's a collection of bass-heavy and peak-time party jams that straddle various different regions and eras: Haus channels inspiration from ghetto house from Chicago and acid brain-melters from The Hague to swung UK garage from South London. But despite the wide range of styles, Haus manages to maintain his own distinctive voice, largely thanks to the spliced-up vocal samples he litters across each track. 'Burnin' Up' is a reminder of just how much potential there is in unrefined and unpolished club music, but there's also very little structure or cohesion to the album, and you can't shake the feeling that it might all have worked better as a series of EPs, or individual 12"s.

Nevertheless, though, fans of labels such as Dance Mania, Crème Organization, Bunker Records and L.I.E.S. will find plenty to enjoy here.
