DJ Deeon in The Lab LDN

This Friday we have ghetto house icon DJ Deeon throwing it down.

Hailing from the South Side of Chicago, DJ Deeon was instrumental in pioneering a raw and X-rated take on house music. He’s released a wealth of classics on Dance Mania, including ‘Freak Like Me’, ‘2 B Free’ and ‘House-O-Matic’, and his DJ sets are rip-roaring rides through unbridled bangers.

Still working tirelessly 25 years on from his debut release, his recent and upcoming projects include remixing Parris Mitchell Vs. Nina Kraviz’s ‘Feel My Butterfly’, collaborating with Dance System (aka L-Vis 1990) as FREAK DANCE, and relaunching his Freakmode label with a four-track EP, marking his first original material (that isn’t a collaboration or remix) in more than 15 years.

Dress 2 sweat. Sign up for guestlist here, and catch the live stream from 5pm BST this Friday, August 23. Tune in live over on our Facebook page and re-watch later on MixmagTV.

For 2019, The Lab LDN will also shine a light on talented visual artists. This week's come courtesy of Singapore-based Reza Hasni, a motion graphics artist known for his self-professed collage of “noisy chaotic textured visuals”. Check out his Instagram and Vimeo.
