Cosmin TRG
An unexpected yet welcomed change of pace
Back in April last year we premiered a track from Romanian techno don Cosmin TRG and we described 'Vitriol' as a track that housed 'hyperactive fizzes, pounding kicks and mechanical whirrings'.
Anyone who's familiar with Cosmin's work knows that this brutal, wall-shaking sound is something that's common in both his productions and sets. He's a regular at Berghain and a session with the producer is not to be handled lightly.
When the producer got in touch with us about his latest EP though, we were pleasantly surprised at what we heard. Of course we knew that the music would be amazing, that pretty much goes without saying, but we didn't expect 'Oblic' to shatter our preconceptions like it did.
Gone are the menacing, harrowing kicks that offer little respite and in are the fizzy riffs, complemented by bouncing basslines and alien gurgles. The low-end is teased in and out and the peaks and troughs create a killer groove. You can tell it's Cosmin but it's not as intense and we absolutely love it.
Fizic004 will be released at the end of the month via Cosmin TRG's Fizic imprint
