Coachella is reportedly in talks to move to October over coronavirus fears

Coachella’s promoter Goldenvoice is attempting to postpone the festival until October in light of the COVID-19, aka coronavirus, outbreak and its impact on the music events industry, according to Billboard.

Coachella is due to take place in California across the weekends of April 10 and April 17. However, in light of a number of large-scale events in the US being forced to cancel or postpone due to fears about the spread of coronavirus, Coachella has opened conversations to move its 250,000 capacity festival to a later date in the year.

Postponing the festival would be a mammoth task, with the bookings of hundreds of vendors, contractors and artists, including headliners Frank Ocean, Rage Against The Machine and Travis Scott, needing to be re-agreed if they are to be present in October.

A decision is expected to be made in the next 48 hours. If a postponement cannot be agreed, Coachella’s 2020 edition will most likely be cancelled.
