Egyptrixx debuts his new alias
Toronto producer David Psutka has put aside his best known moniker, Egyptrixx, to delve into a new project, Ceramic TL.
This new incarnation isn’t too far removed from the core of Psutka’s aesthetic though. Ceramic TL marks his third alias, which sits along aside the aforementioned (and his most well-known) Egyptrixx name, and even bears some resemblance to the full-throttle makeover of the UK-funky-turn-industrial project, albeit with a twist.
For the forthcoming Ceramic TL LP ‘Sign Of The Cross Every Mile To The Border’, which will be released via his own Halocline Trance imprint, Psutka chose the imagined sounds of environmental collapse and the faltering beauty of humans as his palate.
We've got the first play of the title track of the LP and it's a surefire statement of the vibe of the whole record. There is a morbid glee as the rotary grooves and hollowed-out metallic soundscapes scrape against one another before loosening for rigid pads and chopped and filtered percussion. This latest move could very well be Psutka’s ambient-leaning album, and see him stepping into very fascinating and unexpected territories.
‘Sign Of The Cross Every Mile To The Border’ is due to be released as a cassette and digital download on March 15 via Halocline Trance
