Native Instruments have released a video of Carl Cox explaining why he chooses to use the DJ controller Traktor S8 in his live performances.

"I do feel that I play differently because of the technology because I've always been involved in what happens next," says Cox. "I know I can mix two records together very well, that's what I grew up doing. I want to know what I can create outside of that box."

Coxy hooks up the S8 to his CDJs and uses the controller as a central mixer, and in the video he talks about the live remixing functions of the hardware as being one of the more exciting elements of his new set up.

"From the first time I saw what could be done with it, I was already in. The set up I have now is two [CDJs] and two players internally, so I have the best of both worlds. I still want to be working, I still want to be sweating, and riding the groove on the seat of my pants. That's the thing that makes me who I am. I need to be challenged still."
