Calvin Harris reveals he nearly died in 2014
His heart stopped and had to be restarted in hospital
Life is going well for Calvin Harris at the moment. He’s launched a successful new rave-focused alias Love Regenerator, and was recently the only DJ to be named in the Sunday Times Rich List of the wealthiest UK residents. But this week he opened up about a near-death experience that almost stopped him in his tracks in 2014.
The Scottish artist was due to play the MTV EMA ceremony in November that year but pulled out in the days leading up to the event, writing at the time: “No EMAs for me this weekend. Got some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed x”.

Hew was later diagnosed with arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat, which played a part in his decision to go sober.
On Wednesday on Twitter, he revealed how severe the problem was, stating that he temporarily died and has to have his heart restarted in hospital.
Interesting year for me 2014, started with me knocking myself off number 1 in the UK and ended with my heart getting restarted in the ER...this sort of stuff happened in between https://t.co/BS0JqXmyhY
