Break & Kyo

It seems as though Break doesn't rest. The Bristol-based Symmetry Records boss fires out releases at the same rate as someone with a serious case of trigger-finger. Last year saw the release of his third album, 'Simpler Times', saw him combine with Octane and DLR on Dispatch Recordings, tag-team with DJ Die (vs Mad Hed City) on the gully '40 Hurts' and contribute towards 'Symmetry Sessions 2'.

Proliferation is nothing new for the producer, though. He's spent his 13-year career knocking out feisty, hard-faced d'n'b cuts for labels like Eastside Records, Critical Recordings, RAM and Metalheadz. Although a lot of his music comes with that tough guy image, there's plenty of material laced with funk swagger and soul. Just check 'Simpler Times', with regular collaborator and vocalist Kyo, for an example of how he balances dancefloor power and soulful polish.

As Symmetry celebrates 10 years of business, album number four, '10 Years Of Symmetry', is coming out next month. Originally meant to be a compilation, it soon turned into a fully original LP with features from Spectrasoul, Total Science and, once again, Kyo. She features on 'Give In To Me', offering lung-bursting vocals among the monstrous bassline and hammering drums. Break doesn't hold back on this one. Here's to the next 10 years of Symmetry.
