Black Coffee receiving medical treatment after “severe” flight accident
The incident took place en route to a gig in Mar del Plata, Argentina
Black Coffee is currently receiving medical treatment after he was involved in a “severe travel accident on a flight” while travelling to a show in Argentina, supposedly from turbulence.
The accident took place en route to the city of Mar del Plata, where he was scheduled to play an event on Argentinian club Mute, and has subsequently been left with several “injuries” according to his team.
“Black Coffee was involved in a severe travel accident on a flight en route to his scheduled show in Mar del Plata,” reads a statement on his social media pages, posted earlier today (January 10).
"The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries," it adds. "We can confirm he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team."
The GRAMMY-winning DJ and producer was also scheduled to play Day Zero in Tulum, Mexico, on Friday, January 12, and a show in Istanbul alongside Pete Tong on January 13 this week.
A statement from the Argentinian club Mute explained that Black Coffee sustained "severe blows to his body" during bad turbulence on a flight from Florianopolis, Brazil (per BBC). The plane made an emergency landing in Montevideo Airport, and Black Coffee was admitted to hospital.
Black Coffee’s team have confirmed that he is now receiving the “best possible” medical treatment and is “optimistic” about his recovery, asking media and fans to respect his privacy at this time.
“In respect of his privacy, we kindly request understanding and patience from the media and his fans,” the statement reads. "Despite the challenges presented, Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well. He looks forward to being back with you soon.”
