Attendees of the Waking Life Festival held in Portugal are having an even worse comedown than they expected.

A number festival goers reported suffering from symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea after attending the first time festival in Crato from August 17 to 21. The cause of the illness is still unknown, which Waking Life addressed in an official Facebook statement. "At the moment we are trying to figure out the exact source of the illness that has been going around. What we are sure of is that it is not the tap water which we are using since July 1st for all food preparations and drinking. Also the lake water has been tested and proven to be safe," the statement clarifies before explaining that some of the medical team spread false information that it could have been caused by undrinkable tap water.

Several people responded to the post, sharing their own experiences. "I'm sick and I didn't drink the water from the taps, or from the lake," one person supplied. "We were told specifically that it is not viral from a doctor at the hospital in Lisbon - as it's not contagious," another added. "Must have been something drank / consumed at the festival. And that it is bacterial."

"People who are ill should take something for the stomach, hydration sachets and eat healthy. It should fix you in about a day or two," The Waking Life statement concluded.
