anaiis debuts new single 'vanishing'
She gave an exclusive COLORS performance of the single this week
French-Senegalese artist anaiis this week debuted her latest single ‘vanishing’ via an exclusive COLORS performance.
The song was written on an out-of-tune piano in anaiis’ South-East London flat and became an exorcism of a recent downward spiral.
‘vanishing’ is a gentle, lulling track in which anaiis attempts to accept the bad feelings as they move through her without letting them get the better of her. Melding soul and RnB, anaiis’ voice glides through the octaves.

Speaking on the track, anaiis has said, “This song was a way for me to move through and liberate myself from some of the dark thoughts that were holding me captive and helped me recognise the illusory tendencies of my mind. The process of learning how not to over-identify with these patterns showed me that the weeds do not have to be the garden.”
anaiis released her debut LP ‘darkness at play’ last year, and has supported Daniel Caesar on his UK tour as well as delivering a talk at TEDxLondonWomen. Her debut single ‘nina’ in 2018 was a homage to Nina Simone.
