Acid house and the Summer Of Love inspire new line of Adidas trainers

The upcoming Spring/Summer 2018 collection from adidas Spezial is set to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Summer Of Love, the moment when rave culture and acid house became prominent in the UK.

Designed by Gary Aspden, the collection is aptly called the Second Summer Of Love and features four classic silhouettes from the adidas archive.

Speaking to END., Aspden expressed why he chose to use inspiration specifically from acid house and the Summer Of Love for the new adidas collection:

“It felt like an interesting story to tell because adidas had such a relevance within that subculture... If you're going to tell an acid house story, it’s impossible to tell that story without adidas running shoes. Running shoes were the best thing to wear if you were going to go out all night dancing.”

The adidas Spezial Spring/Summer 2018 collection includes iconic designs like the Samba-esque Hulton, the Padiham, the Indoor Kreft and two colorways of the Glenbuck.
