Taking place on September 2 across multiple venues in Deptford, the festival's aim is to champion neighbourhood crews across a wide array of electronic music soundscapes, DIY radio, local businesses and the local area's spaces.
Creekside's headliners are Wookie and Jossy Mitsu, with crews getting involved - alongside AAJA - including Threads Radio, Simply Sensational, Cheeky Soundsystem, No Boundaries, Saa & Vibes, Rat Face Records and more.
The festival will take place across 10 independent venues in the local Deptford area. The AAJA Snake Pit and AAJA Basement feature - a space where audiences can watch and listen to live radio, enjoy a pint and snack - alongside neighbours Artworks Courtyard, Buster Mantis, Endeavour, Isla Ray, Little Faith, Stocktons, The Birds Nest, and Villagers.
“We wanted to invite a veteran and a bit of a legend, treat ourselves and South East London to something special," the organisers explain on the headliners. "Growing up in London in the late '90s and early '00s, Wookie was a main fixture on the UK Garage scene. Although he has had continued success, it’s nice to have the opportunity to invite him along to debut at the AAJA Snake Pit and shell out some UKG stinkers.
"We also love the eclecticism and energy that Jossy brings to a set. We always appreciate someone that’s grafted for their art, kicking things off at 15 and now continuing to kick things off on dancefloors globally. Jossy perfectly compliments our line up and we’re looking forward to seeing her down in Deptford.
"We want to celebrate five years in the game with AAJA and what better way to mark the occasion than championing all of the hyperlocal Deptford spaces, businesses and community members which have gotten us to where AAJA is today?" they continue. "Creekside will not only celebrate, but also highlight Deptford’s unique and often endangered cultural spaces. The festival will be an intimate, multi-venue, day to night, electronic music festival, with an emphasis on being affordable for all: the first of what we’re hoping to turn into an annual celebration of our community and Deptford."
