A marijuana oasis is coming

American Green Inc., a US marijuana company, recently purchased a plot of land in California that serves as the location of a small town called Nipton.

The company bought the land, which is 120 acres with only 20 inhabitants, for just $5 million and plans to establish somewhat of a cannabis oasis that manufactures edibles, provides mineral baths, tourism, weed stores, and “a first-of-its-kind eco-tourism experience for conscious cannabis consumers.”

In order to renovate the land, American Green will spend $2.5 million over the next 18 months. The first plan of business is to build a place to bottle cannabis-infused water, while more attractions are set to follow, including “cannabis-product retail outposts, artist-in-residence programs, culinary events, and bed-and-breakfast lodging.”

American Green’s president and CEO, David Gwyther, said he’s hopefully this will set a positive example for the future: "We are excited to lead the charge for a true Green Rush… The cannabis revolution that's going on here in the U.S. has the power to completely revitalize communities in the same way gold did during the 19th century."

The town of Nipton was initially formed during the gold rush, but has been mostly vacant since around the 1950s. Today it’s known as a ghost town, mainly because of its poor location, but now the cannabis industry may help to revive it.
