A project supported by the European Commission has been launched to train nightclub staff how to deal with sexual violence.

The Addictology Clinic in Prague is leading the pilot stage, set to include staff members from the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain.

The first stage will see instructors training participants various prevention measures. Results from this are expected in March 2019.

Hana Fidesova of the Addictology Clinic said: "The environment of night entertainment is a place in which sexual violence often occurs. The highly sexualised environment and influence of alcohol or other addictive substances contributes to this."

The project was announced after the Czech Republic's Interior Ministry made sexual violence part of its security strategy, according to the Prague Daily Monitor.
