Getting denied entry to a nightclub is normally the low point of a night, but one punter in Manchester took a novel approach to cooling off after the hot flush of embarrassment.

According to Manchester City Central Police, a French male did a “grand jete”, which translates as an extravagant ballet jump, into the water from Canal Street in protest of not being allowed into a club.

With CCTV capturing the drama, nearby door staff then “fished” him out of the water at 2.30am.

Police added that the man was "cold and wet", but escaped uninjured.

Sacré bleu.
