41% of people in the UK have not listened to a full album in over a year, new research suggests.
The findings come from a poll of 2,000 UK adults, conducted by National Rail as part of its "Track Reset" campaign, in which a further 8% admitted to having "never" listened to an album from start-to-finish.

70% said that they listen to the same tracks over and over again, playing their favourite tracks 343 times in 12 months on average, equalling a play nearly every day of the year.
The findings point to a lack of new music discovery from listeners, with over a third admitting that they only listen to a single playlist of their favourite songs, and 27% insisting they "are not keen" to widen their music horizons.
65% of respondents said they stick to the same music because they "like what they like", while 50% said they prefer "nostalgia", and a further 50% claimed to find their regular rotation "comforting".

In an attempt to combat the lack of music exploration found in its poll, National Rail has commissioned music psychologist Dr Ruth Herbert and DJ and music producer Adriano Desire to create 'Track Reset', a three-minute "musical palette cleanser" that has been "scientifically-engineered to reset listening habits".
The campaign has been supported by BBC Radio 1 broadcaster and DJ Pete Tong, who likened the habits found within the findings to "watching just the best scenes from a movie".
