15 people taken to hospital at Hardwell show
Sixty people were treated for drugs and alcohol during the show in Northern Ireland
It's being reported that up to 60 teenagers had to receive medical attention at a Hardwell concert in Northern Ireland last night.
The Dutch DJ and producer was performing at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, with scores of young people having to be treated outside the venue for what is being reported as the ill effects of drugs and alcohol. Fifteen were taken to the city's Royal Victoria and Mater hospitals, though no one was seriously injured.
Adrian Doyle, general manager of Odyssey, said: "It is our understanding that a number of patrons arriving at the Odyssey Arena to attend a concert by Dutch DJ act Hardwell have required medical attention, having already been intoxicated on their arrival at the Odyssey Complex." He maintains that intoxicated revellers were not granted entry to the event and were treated by ambulance services outside. However, Northern Irish politician Michael Copeland said he'd heard the scene outside Odyssey as "horrendous".
John McPoland, a spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, said: "We believe the majority arrived suffering from too much alcohol. We declared a major incident because of the number of resources we had to deploy to the scene."
