Meet the winners of Mixmag and Edmwarrior’s Make It: Melodic House/Techno competition

We’re challenging dance music producers and emerging artists from all over the world to showcase their creativity and production prowess by entering our series of competitions in collaboration with Edmwarriors, the go-to marketplace for music production.

In October, we asked aspiring producers to take part in the final round of our production competition, Make It: Melodic House/Techno. The rules were simple: create an original track with no limitations, and most importantly, get creative. All tracks submitted had to fit in the melodic house or techno genre.

After submissions closed, we had plenty of tracks to choose from with original cuts ranging from chug to more minimal stylings, including a tribal house cut from Earl The Kid, a simmering melodic house track from Temazkal, a chill cut from Skahigan, a melodic techno track from Antonio Bellomo, and a downtempo house banger from In Another Galaxy. Each of these artists made our shortlist, which you can listen to below.

After a difficult decision, we crowned two winners, Temazkal and In Another Galaxy, for their collaborative efforts on one triumphant track. The selection process was made by the teams at both Mixmag and Edmwarriors, who searched for the most dynamic and creative melodic house/techno track that stood out from the crowd. The track saw both producers team up on a simmering melodic house heater, where In Another Galaxy laid down the initial foundations for the beat, and Temazkal put his own unique spin on the track.

Inspired by artists like Nitefreak, Keinemusik, Lane 8, Flume, and Polar Inc., Temazkal has refined his craft in progressive house, Afro house, deep house, and melodic house, producing tracks that capture the organic beauty of the natural world. His work has been noticed by artists like Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, and Chris Luno through the years as he hones his niche in downtempo house, while working on a project he calls Healing Hand, with an aim to connect people through music. Temazkal's next anticipated release, 'Wonder', is set for release via Monowave Records soon.

In Another Galaxy is a 21-year-old producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, known for his productions blending progressive house with deeper, more melodic styles of house and techno. From energetic basslines to groove-laden melodies, In Another Galaxy's productions are shaped by a deep love for melodic house. After learning to play the guitar aged six, and later the piano aged 15, In Another Galaxy also uses his vocals across productions to give each a characteristic style, inspired by artists like Avicii and Calvin Harris, and labels including NCS and Monstercat.

His collaboration with Temazkal showcases a dedication to the craft. The track began with an initial bassline, melody, and drums produced by In Another Galaxy, before giving Temazkal the creative freedom to enhance the track. Temazkal also handled the mixing and mastering process, incorporating feedback from In Another Galaxy to refine the track into its final form — a layered melodic house track, using atmospheric elements and building synths that showcases their combined artistry.
