These are January's freshest premieres
Listen to the exclusives that sizzled this month
This month we've premiered a record amount of exclusive music and some of the fire that January has produced has been pretty impressive to say the least. We've brought forward over 40 brand new cuts from some of the biggest names in the game and although it was a hard decision, we've chosen our top ten for your listening pleasure.
Turn those speakers up and get yourself comfortable, these are the bangers you'll be hearing on the floor very soon.
Peggy Gou 'Troop' (Galcher Lustwerk Remix)
Peggy Gou's 'Troop' EP is a fine example of her craft, bearing smooth, dusty house with forceful rhythms and sultry melodies across two fantastic tracks. On remix duty is none-other than Galcher Lustwerk, another producer well-versed in creating brain-soothing, other-worldly jams.
Lustwerk's remix of the title track adds more groove and pulsating riffs, keeping the soft harmonies intact but bringing forward more bite and most importantly, a sumptuous drive. Amazing track, amazing remix.
Lenzman 'Golden Age'
'Golden Age' features Irish vocalist Steo, and it's over five minutes of heart-wrenching, emotion-laced d'n'b. Steo croons, piano keys delicately tap and synths groan subtly in the background.
We may have been waiting a while, but it's totally worth it. Big up the Lenzman.
Anja Schneider 'Soul Traveller'
We're really feeling this one from Anja Schneider.
'Soul Traveller' is a serene and escalating techno cut, one filled with intricate riffs, groove-fuelled drums and breakdowns that melt into rolling drops. What a start to the year, onwards and upwards now Anja.
DJ Steaw 'Lock Out'
All of Rutilance's records ooze cool and we can't get enough of them so we're thrilled to present an exclusive premiere from the imprint's 10th release. The four-tracker features tracks from Marotti as well as bosses Gunnter and Steaw.
'Lock Out' by DJ Steaw features slamming percussion, a toe-tappingly smooth groove and chords that float beautifully in-and-out of focus. It's hard to reach house perfection but we reckon this track gets pretty close. Get involved and get to know.
Eagles & Butterflies 'Shinto'
If Dixon drops your track in a set, you can almost guarantee that it's going to get a lot of hype right off the bat and when he surprised everyone with a Boiler Room last year, one of the stand-out tracks was an untitled cut from Eagles & Butterflies.
Finally 'Shinto' gets an official release and we can see this one working-up any dancefloor that it graces. The frisky riffs are the main crux of the track but once you factor in tribal percussion and drops that roll gleefully in-and-out of focus, you've got a track fit for King Dixon.
Endgame 'XOX Riddim'
Endgame has built a rep with some dope SoundCloud uploads, a seriously on-point NTS show and production work for rising MC Blaze Kidd so now's the perfect time for 'Savage' to drop.
'XOX Riddim' is a surefire waist winder replete with delicious duelling riffs and Endgame's trademark booming kicks. You'll be hypnotised in seconds.
Eats Everything 'Big Discs'
We love Eats and his latest EP on Catz n Dogz's Pets Recordings is nothing short of monstrous. The two-tracker is as big as you'd expect, with both the A and B sides aimed squarely at the floor.
'Big Discs', with its looping hooks, trippy, piercing synths and fun-fuelled vocals is Eats at his very best. Oh and those drops are as prolonged and satisfying as ever. You're gonna like this, trust us.
Citizenn 'Lady' (Kerri Chandler Remix)
Kerri Chandler strips back the original of 'Lady' by Citizenn and adds atmospheric weight with subdued vocals. Never fear though he keeps it driving with an alternating kick and hi-hat throughout.
King Kerri can pretty much do no wrong and with the current hot streak that Citizenn's on, this is a match made in heaven. Crosstown Rebels strike gold once again.
Heiko Laux 'Dry
For his next record, Heiko Laux is linking up with another deeply influential figure from the German capital, Ben Klock. During a chance meeting on a recent plane journey the pair got talking, and by the time they landed, plans for a three-track EP on Klockworks had been arranged. It's a match made in techno heaven.
'Dry Me (Acid Mix)' showcases Laux at his pulsating best. A throbbing acid line and booming kick emerge from the very first beat, serving as a strong base from which the track swells upwards with Heiko's signature immersive textures.
Julia Govor 'Open Possibility' (Ricardo Villalobos remix)
Ricardo Villalobos knows how to work a club and his extended remixes are always an intricate journey into the warped, yet brilliant mind of the Chilean producer. We caught his six-hour set at Fabric last weekend and he showcased choppy mixes, unexpected tangents and meandering melodies, once again proving why he's been so popular for nearly two decades.
His 15 minute edit of Julia Govor's 'Open Possibility' is another club-ready odyssey, one that to the untrained ear would probably confuse and perplex but on the Room 1 system in Fabric, would dazzle and transport with its alien-gurgles, delicate hi-hats and mutating groove. It's not the most conventional piece of music but with Ricardo it was never going to be and that's exactly its charm.
