Colombian Drone Mafia ft. Tristan Arp 'Rafflesia Arnoldii’ (ST Records)
Glistening piano keys, raw bass stabs and cascading percussion interwoven with bustling samples of the urban and natural realms, it’s difficult not to become completely enveloped within the throes of this captivating track from Colombian Drone Mafia - the experimental alias of TraTraTrax co-founder Nyksan - featuring Detroit-born DJ, producer and composer Tristan Arp. Taken from ‘Sueño en Flor’, a forthcoming five-tracker inspired by their year-long residency at London’s Space Talk, the track offers moments of calm in disquiet without ever stepping away from its core movements, allowing the listener to plunge as deep into its intense depths as they see fit.

Parris 'Drippin’' (can you feel the sun)
You know those moments, when its silly o’clock the dancefloor or you’ve become swaddled within the masses of a late-afternoon festival stage, when you catch your mate’s eye and you suddenly realise there is literally nowhere else you’d choose to be other than right here, right now… well, those are one of the key inspirations behind Parris’ forthcoming EP ‘Drippin’, set to land on his can you feel the sun imprint (co-run with Call Super) in May. While we’ve only been able to give the title track a whirl so far, its rampant percussion, ricocheting vocals and surging synths have already transported us directly to those moments. ‘Drippin’’ summer here we come!

Madonna ‘I Feel So Free’ (Warner Records)
The album that put the Madge in magenta leotards is officially getting a sequel, and while we may have to wait until June to find out exactly what rave-angled revelations the Queen of Pop has up her (currently missing) Gucci sleeve, if ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor Part II’’s lead single is anything to go by, Madonna has her sights set firmly on the club. Reuniting with producer Stuart Price, ‘I Feel Free’ combines buoyant, Ibiza-esque house, scuttling melodic percussion, zipping acid and an explicit nod to Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’, all accompanied by The Queen of Pop’s husky tone and delectably camp lyrics — there’s a real symbiosis between the producer and pop star, both working with equal aplomb to take us back to those heady days of 2005 disco nostalgia.

RONI ‘u know me’ (Nehza Records)
RONI kicks off a three-part series of club tracks coming on her Nehza Records outlet with ‘u know me’. Firing out the blocks upon a galloping beat, it surges into a streamy atmosphere that feels like the late-night tipping point of a carnival, when the parade is over and the darkening streets turn to raw soundsystem power.

Boards of Canada ‘Tape 05’ (Warp Records)
The world has been in the grip of anxiety these last years, but the outpouring of deep, heartfelt joy at the return of Boards of Canada felt like it tipped the scales back a touch. Many a happy tear rolled down a cheek when this music — which featured on enigmatic tapes sent out to a few long-time Warp fans — was shared publicly for the first time this month. It toes a magnificent line between eeriness and warmth, soaking listeners in sublime layers of shimmering ambience. Now knowing a new album is on the way is tantalising, but we’re more than content with this beauty of a track in the meantime.

Tokischa & Skrillex ‘Surfboard’ (SOL / Warner Music Latina)
Dominican rapper Tokischa has gone all in with her debut album ‘AMOR & DROGA’. Across 17 tracks, she reflects on raw personal experiences relating to a toxic relationship and substance abuse — though Skrillex collaboration ‘Surfboard’ serves up one of the lighter moments. Over a beat of crisp drums and woozy tones, she sweetly vocalises the intoxication of falling in lust: “I saved this body for my boyfriend / How good God designed me, this ass he fell in love with”.

It’s a rare treat to hear Capo Lee, one of the best on the current MC circuit, appear on a UK funky tune. This one sees him link up with bass specialist Ahadadream in a grime-tinged mash-up that will stick in your head for days – a proper soundsystem banger.

Baalti & Lapgan ‘Romance’ (FADERR)
Ahead of the release of their new collaborative album ‘THREADS’, Baalti and Lapgan put their production sensibilities and joint adoration for sampling old skool South Asian tunes together on the record’s focus track ‘Romance’, a soft, textured and percussively therapeutic track. This one plays to both artists’ strengths, combining Baalti’s synth-forward approach with Lapgan’s hip hop prowess.

Miss Jay ‘Bucharest’ (99CTS RCRDS)
The closing track from Miss Jay’s new EP on 99CTS RCRDS is a homage to her hometown, Bucharest – an atmospheric piece that focuses heavily on its driving low-ends. While still primed for the dancefloor, ‘Bucharest’ feels equally attuned to contemporary and percussive club sounds that make for theatrical, immersive listening through a set of headphones.
