Skream shares the tracks lighting up his marathon Open-To-Close sets
Wanna hear what's in Skream's bag?
We've teamed up with aiaiai to bring you the best sounds straight from the selectors recordbags. First up it's the king of the extended set, Skream and his Open-To-Close playlist
It's no secret that Skream is one of our favourites.
He's a super-skilled producer who's come full circle with his output, moving from dubstep to disco and house to techno, not only with ease but with class and fervour. He's now also a successful label boss too and his Of Unsound Mind imprint has offered up records from the freshest artists around, like Solardo, Eli Brown and Waifs & Strays.
His most attractive trait, though, has to be his skill and ability as DJ. Always an enigmatic selector behind the decks, Oliver Jones has been honing his craft behind the decks for well over a decade and right now he's showing dancers around the world just how long he can go for.
Last year, Skream's Open-To-Close tour gave him a chance to flex his marathon muscles and delve into the corners of his record bag that were usually left unexplored in the clubs. From start to finish, Jones was able to give fans an insight into the different sounds and speeds that made him tick and this year, he's back on tour with an even bigger bag.
This year, the Open-To-Close tour has hit more towns, more cities and more countries than ever before, with stops all over the UK before hitting America and the rest of Europe. If the dates so far are anything to go by, it looks like he's just getting started.
As any good DJ knows, your choice of headphone is an extremely important factor and along with some of the world's most respected DJs, Skream uses aiaiai's TMA-2s.
The TMA-2s are the most customisable headphone on the market and you're able to configure every aspect of your listening experience. Whether you're a DJ, a studio-dweller or just a fan of good quality sound, aiaiai have dedicated their time to making sure there's a headphone setting for you.
"I use aiaiai headphones and have done for sometime. I use the TMA-2's and they consist of the S01 speaker unit and the Velour ear pads with the spring cable. They're really an all rounder. Great sound, highly durable and really comfy even when I'm wearing them for up to 9 hours!” says Oliver.
With that in mind, we joined forces with the Danish headphone company to find out what some of our favourite DJs were playing both in and out of the clubs. Skream has offered up 20 tracks that sum up the ebb and flow of his extended DJ sets. There are the peak time bangers and subtle, ambient openers and you can listen to them all below.
We salute you Skream!
