January: six artists you need to check out this month
We really recommend these lot
Laksa
Laksa’s put out two EPs on London label Mistry, but the influence of home town Bristol burns bright in his twisted techno productions, drenched in sub-bass and with mind-bending synth sounds at the fore. It’s a sound primed for intimate basement raves, but the scope of Laksa’s influence is broader, recent outing ‘66 Rebels’ channelling political anger at Westminster’s decision to bomb Syria. Given world events, he should find plenty of inspiration for fraught dancefloor cuts in the coming year.
