Selects: Marques Wyatt's deep flavors of summer
Sounds that feel just right for the heated summer season ahead
A pioneering force on the West Coast and arguably a legend for the scene of Los Angeles, Marques Wyatt is no stranger to curating the perfect soundtrack for the busy summer seasons of festivals and open-air parties.
One can't think of Los Angeles' DEEP events without thinking of Marques, who has helped the event become a force all on its own for over 18 years with his sharp understanding of the dance floor across two different generations.
Ahead of his own spotlight at RHA Festival in Mexico, the producer and DJ delivers a playlist of his "deep flavors" that you can expect to hear in his sets across the next few weeks.
Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons 'I Found You' (Patrice Baumel Remix)
"Crosstown Rebels continues to impress with their masterful curating of quality releases. What can I say... Patrice Baumel is bringing his A-game to the court these days."
Rampa 'Bimma'
"I'm really feeling the afro tech sound when done right. Rampa is the king, as far as I'm concerned. I'm featuring a lot of his productions in my sets right now."
Kaap 'Sunset Vertigo'
"I just can't enough of this track. It's aural perfection. Kraftwerk 2017 vibe!"
Lee Burridge and Lost Desert feat. Junior '12CC'
"Mr. Burridge has proven himself to have some of the best ears in the business, so the success of his label and consistency of his productions are a reflection of this truth. This one will continue to receive a lot of affection from behind the decks from me throughout the summer."
Bicep 'The Game' (Catz N' Dogz Interpretation)
"I must have slept on this in 2013, as I'm definitely a huge supporter of Bicep, as well as Catz N' Dogz. Good marriage here! ;-) I'm really digging the 808 State feel of it. Quality music is timeless, so it's never too late for us to begin our journey."
PAAX (Tulum) 'Manglar'
"The crazy ethnic percussion vibes in this track are strong and beat is intoxicating. This is their debut release, so I can't wait to hear more from them. This duo most definitely has the goods."
Soul Dhamma 'Flower' (King Britt's Underwater Garden Dub)
"This is one of my all time favorites to pull out in summer, especially. Perfect for the festival sunset setting."
Blond:ish feat. Shawni 'Wizard Of Love' (Modular Project Remix)
"This has always been such a beautiful song and Modular Project gives it the perfect midas touch. Shawni is channeling some serious Stevie Nicks. Love it!"
DOTT 'Kobe's Lost Journey'
"This whole EP is solid. However, this particular track get's the top honors. It's been slaying the dance floor and it's still unreleased. Manjumasi is making some serious ripples amongst DJ's and dance floors. Quality stuff!"
