Karen Nyame KG, the 'Goddess of Rhythm', recently touched down at Peckham Audio for her headline show, Karen Nyame KG: The KG Experience, in celebration of her new EP 'RED'.

Originally announced with the lead single 'P.L.L (Pretty Little Liar)' in September, which KG described as a "diary entry in music format", the three-tracker fused UK club music with Ghanian influences and emotive narratives.

The project also featured 'Nightryde', a collaboration between herself and Atlanta-based artist Leonce. The second single of 'RED' was a "sexy club, sub bass, electronic roller" where she taps into her "sensuous but street side with a mix between vocals and rap."

'RED' marks the first release of KG's imprint, Rhythm In The City (RITC), which will act as an extension of the label boss' "production signature that embodies a multitude of styles, UK funky, alté R&B, afro alté, gqom, amapiano, highlife and afrohouse."

Rhythm in the City began not as a label, but as "a party for the grown and sexy," which, since a flurry of sell-out events, has built a strong community over the years.

Karen Nyame KG told Mixmag that the KG experience mirrored exactly "what the label is all about, making people feel and ascend through sound."

"Rhythm in the City will be the home for high calibre, electronic, afro-infused rhythms, soul and grooves."

A month on from the project's release, Akinyemi has shared with us four photos which reflect the night's captivating energy where KG was joined by her host Rose Bere and live percussionist Martin Rizzola, who together "brought the additation magic I needed for the night" according to the RITC head honcho.

"My headline show was electric, we sold out! I'm so thankful for my supporters - the night was beautiful," reflected the Goddess of Rhythm.

Karen Nyame KG broke through during her university days when she would send dubs into specialist UK funky Facebook groups, hoping that DJs would play her stuff on pirate radio, subsequently building her reputation at community stations Touch FM and Westside Radio.

Since then she has taken her sound which weaves together diasporic club music across the globe, tearing down houses at Primavera Sound, Glastonbury and more while performing radio shows for the likes of BBC 1Xtra, Foundation FM,NTS and Rinse FM. As a producer she has collaborated with artists such as UNIIQU3, Dance System, Toya Delazy, Mista Silva, Aymos and Scratchclart.
