In Session: nd_baumecker
A joyous journey right back to the NYC Downlow
Since 2010, he's been producing auditory gold alongside Sam Barker as Barker & Baumecker and although it's hard to pin point exactly what style of music they're going to conjure up next, it's always been deep, emotive and highly danceable. Tracks like 'Spur' and 'Schlang Bang' work wonders on a dancefloor just as they do in your headphones and their output has been truly diverse and unique.
In fact, the music that Baumecker creates follows a similar pattern to his DJ sets. No genre is left untouched and that's what makes him such a fantastic artist. He's just as comfortable rolling out menacing, ethereal techno as he is jumping, melodic house and even aspects of electro and disco are worked seamlessly into his sets.
A perfect example of this eclecticism is his set at NYC Downlow. It was a perfect blend of house and disco that merged the rougher, tougher sounds alongside some seriously nostalgic cuts. At the NYC Downlow, anything goes as long as it's fun and has people dancing and Baumecker played, what we like to think is, the perfect set in there.
This week's In Session is that very set and it will transport you to one of the most brilliant places on the planet. We're thrilled to have the exclusive first serving of it and we've had goosebumps every time we've listened. This one requires multiple playbacks and for good reason, there are some absolute stompers in there. If you didn't get a Glasto ticket then this is the next best thing but if you've entered the Downlow before then get ready for a big smile to creep across your face from the second you hit play.
