Jungle was his first love, though he admits he’s been around the musical block since then. In the late 00s he moved to Chicago and became obsessed with footwork, as well as digging ever further into the city’s house history. “The amount of world-class talent and the fiercely competitive nature of the city can be intimidating,” he admits. “But it really forces you to step up your game and sharpen your skills.” He certainly did that, collaborating with footwork wizards like DJ Spinn and eventually getting a residency at the city’s decades-old institution Smartbar.

Now, though, he’s relocated to San Francisco and is clearly as fired up as ever. “The scene is really strong here right now,” he tells us. “And living somewhere without winter has been extremely pleasant for a Midwesterner!” He’s already made one gorgeous vocal house tune this year: ‘Back In Time’ with Miles Bonny ,on Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon’s Classic. But new LP ‘Resilience’ has not one but two tracks that trump that, and in a just world, dancefloor smashers ‘Your Ghost’ and ‘So I Go Dancing’ would be huge radio hits. After so long working at the rave coalface, Chrissy’s time in the light is here.

‘Resilience’ by Chrissy is out on Chiwax now
