DJ Earl
DJ Earl is a member of the Teklife crew behind some of the fiercest music in Chicago
Alongside the late DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, DJ Manny and Feloneezy, Earl has played a key part in spreading the footwork love. The frenetic, frantic and damn right energetic genre has been on a rapid rampage in the last few years, with Teklife in the very middle, and has further enhanced Chi-town's reputation as one of the best dance music cities in the world.
One of the youngest members of Teklife, Earl's been steadily making a name for himself since releasing the fantastic 'Trax Galore' on Ghettophiles in 2010. The spacey 'Futuristic' was a standout for us here at Mixmag and the EP was followed up two years later with 'Teklife Or Nolife' on French label Moveltraxx. Basically, this guy's music is nuts and is a prime example of why we love juke and footwork so much.
His next release, the 'Afrika Tek' EP, is set to arrive on All Roads Music, the label and collective that launched earlier this year with a mega East London party featuring DJ Earl himself and the likes of Om Unit, N-Type, Die, Dillinja and label boss K-aze, aka the legendary Lemon D.
His In Session is predictably restless, relentless and fidgety, bursting with energy from the outset and packed with tracks certain to give you a full-on dancefloor workout. And there's a pretty ridiculous footwork edit of Julio Bashmore's 'Battle For Middle You' in there, too. Special.
All Roads Music's next Boom F'Real is on July 20 at Dance Tunnel with Stray and Krust
