You'll soon be able to drink "hangover-free" prosecco at your afterparty

The bubbles we've all been waiting for

A bottle of bubbly has never been far away from the rave, from the glitz and glamour of Studio 54 to the Moschino-clad garage parties.

Although it was usually champagne that was being guzzled at the above, prosecco's become somewhat of a staple for afterparties. It's usually followed by a fizz-fuelled headache the next day but supermarket chain Lidl reckons it's got a solution.

The German company will start to sell its Organic Prosecco Spumante from Thursday, saying that fewer sulphites in it means it won't give you as bad of a hangover as regular bottles.

Richard Bampfield, Lidl's Master of Wine, said: "We’ve all had that shocking wine hangover. This is sometimes attributed to the sulphite preservatives used in wine to keep them fresher for longer.

"Generally, organic wine producers use a lower level of sulphites in the production process, which means they are less likely to contribute to hangovers. So if you don’t react well to sulphites you could be saying good riddance to hangovers with Lidl’s Organic Prosecco Spumante."

As persuasive as Bampfield sounds, we don't imagine this will completely banish a hangover.

While afterparties can be super fun, it's always good to leave at some point so read our guide on this if it's something you struggle with.
