Winter Music Conference announces keynote speakers and programming for 2019

Armin van Buuren, Irvine Welsh, Laidback Luke and more will present at WMC this year

The 34th annual Winter Music Conference - set to take place at The Faena in Miami Beach from March 25 through 28 - has announced its first keynote speakers, select programming and additional partnerships for its 2019 edition.

For over three decades, the electronic music industry was established and beckoned annually to Miami in March for Winter Music Conference for discussions and meetings in the form of panels, mixers and varied programming. WMC cultivated a progressive culture around electronic music, allowing Ultra Music Festival to come to life and eventually flourish. In more recent years, however, WMC's presence dwindled. After being purchased by Ultra Worldwide in March of 2018, the conference's upcoming refresh will breathe new life into the cherished gathering that has existed since 1985.

The keynote speakers for this year's event include iconic Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren who will lead a presentation titled “A State Of Trance” about the progression of one of dance music’s most beloved genres. Dr. Douglas Rushkoff will deliver a keynote presentation centered around his acclaimed 'Team Human' podcast which aims to amplify human connection.

Acclaimed author Irvine Welsh will team up with acid house legend DJ Pierre for a discussion on "the evolution and impact of acid house on global music and culture" and Platinum-selling DJ-producer Sam Feldt will give a presentation on green philanthropy. Last but not least, Laidback Luke will step up to the podium to host WMC’s “The Power of Creative DJing” main stage presentation.

WMC attendees will be treated to a closing night cocktail party at The Faena Hotel to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the afro house imprint Nulu Music with performances by Anané, Christian Mantini and special guest Louie Vega.

This year, WMC will be presented in two distinct parts: a more exclusive, by invitation or application only "Industry" segment targeted towards industry professionals and an additional open-to-the-public "Access" segment meant for curious music consumers looking to learn more about the music industry aspects of the business.
