Who created the hypnotic The White Lotus season two theme music?

The HBO dark comedy is entrancing viewers once again, but who created its percussion-laden opening song?

Season two of HBO’s dark comedy-drama The White Lotus returned to UK screens on Monday with an all-new opening sequence.

Packed with a painted tapestry that hints at the forthcoming narrative, the opening credits also include a new track which viewers can’t get enough of.

One minute into this new theme tune, from a melodic harp and operatic vocals the tune gradually builds up into a yodelling remix that drops one minute in with a haughty drum beat.

This revamped version has caught the attention of fans of the show, with one Tweeting: “I can hear God when the beat drops,” another adding: “The White Lotus theme music did not have to go THAT hard”.

The track ‘Renaissance’ was written by the show’s Emmy Award-winning composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer who also created season one’s title track ‘Aloha!’.

Compared to season one’s title sequence the imagery in this version includes more detail echoing clues of the yet-to-come storyline depicted through elegant Renianssance-like paintings.
