Welsh dog walker finds an estimated £90 million of cocaine on beach stroll
“I was intrigued and knew what it was almost straight away”
A man has discovered what he believes to be a large quantity of “pure cocaine” while taking his dog for an early morning walk along the beach in Wales.
The dog walker, WalesOnline report, was strolling along Tan Y Bwlch beach in Aberystwyth, west Wales, when he caught sight of 30 black bags washed up on the shores.

“I was out for my early morning walk when I saw something on the beach,” he said. “I was intrigued and walked up to it and knew what it was almost straight away.
“An old lady called the police and they came around half an hour later. They cut open a bag and it looked like pure cocaine. They dragged it off the beach and took it away,” said the dog walker.
Police were called to the beach at around 8:15AM on Saturday, October 1, where they discovered what appeared to be multiple kilos of cocaine. The bags were tied together with rope and interspersed with empty plastic jugs, according to the man, possibly to keep the cargo afloat.
The exact quantity and street price of the class A drug has not yet been calculated, though Dyfed-Powys Police said that this could be one of the biggest finds on a UK beach in recent memory. The Mail also estimated that if the bags were full, they could be worth up to £90 million.

Dyfed-Powys Police said that “enquiries are being undertaken to establish how such an unusually large amount of the controlled drug came to wash up on the Welsh shore, following recent storms.
“The precise quantity is still being established and at this time, no one has been arrested in relation to this matter.”
