Watch a new documentary about New York collective Discwoman
The 12-minute video was made to celebrate International Women's Day
Smirnoff's international music platform, Smirnoff Sound Collective, has a launched a documentary celebrating female DJs around the world for International Women's Day.
Tribes: Discwoman mainly focuses on Discwoman, a New York-based DJ collective and booking agency, exploring the role of women in electronic music.
Clocking in at 12 minutes, Discwoman co-founders Frankie Hutchinson, Emma Burgess-Olson and Christine Tran are also joined by The Black Madonna, Nicole Moudaber, Star Eyes, Sandunes, Demian Licht and Nina Sonik.
SSC worked with Discwoman to highlight the NY platform's "efforts to make electronic music culture more inclusive", with co-founder Hutchinson singling out Smirnoff's aim to make electronic music more inclusive as a reason for working with the company.
She said: “The Smirnoff Sound Collective’s goal of telling an inclusive and diverse story about female DJs is something we decided to join forces with because the work we do is more than just about us.
“It’s about an awesome community of women who have great talent and deserve their stories be shared and celebrated.”
