The UK's first ketamine therapy clinic has opened in Bristol.

Awakn offers a nine-week course aimed at adults suffering from mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety as well as addiction and substance abuse.

The course is made up of 11 psychotherapy sessions, four of which involve the patient receiving a dose of ketamine.

The course costs £6000 and takes place at Awakn's Bristol practice in Regent Street, Clifton. The company will also open clinics in London and Manchester later in 2021.

Awakn's psychotherapy rooms feature a bed or sofa and there's also a space where patients can "come down" after they're ketamine therapy sessions have finished.

The opening of the clinic comes just four years after the world's first trial for treating depression with ketamine took place.
