Two people dead and 21 injured in Florida concert shooting
Three attackers shot at the crowd in Miami on Sunday night
Two people were killed and 21 left injured on Sunday, May 30, at a concert shooting in Florida. The attackers targeted the crowd leaving El Mula Banquet Hall in Northwest Miami, where local rappers, including ABMG Spitta, were playing an album release party.
The shooting was carried out by three unknown attackers at around 12:30AM on Sunday morning. Amongst those injured, three are now in critical condition.
The incident followed another shooting in Florida on Friday, where a gunman open-fired at a crowd in Wynewood killing one person and injuring six more.
The police held a press conference in Miami, calling Sunday’s mass shooting a "targeted and cowardly act”. One of the victim’s parents stood in front of the camera crying for his child who was killed in the shooting.
He yelled: “You all killed my kid. You must burn!” according to Miami Herald. The grieving dad was ushered away by police, who later spoke about the families who lost their loved ones on camera.
Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez III said during the conference, “We must work harder to bring justice to these families who are crying as you hear right now. Know that the Miami-Dade Police Department will not stop. We will bring justice. Our community is united.”
The shooting took place after a white SUV pulled up into the parking lot, where the three assailants stepped out holding assault rifles and handguns. Police told the Miami Herald that this was one of the largest mass shootings to occur in Miami-Dade County in recent history.
Authorities do not currently have a description of the shooters and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 305-471-8477. They're now offering $130,000 for information leading to the assailants.
