The xx shares video for Jamie xx’s remix of ‘On Hold’'
His first official remix in four years
The xx have unveiled the highly anticipated Jamie xx remix of ‘On Hold’, the band’s lead single from their acclaimed third album ‘I See You’.
The xx stormed back in 2016 releasing their first album in five years to a warm reception from fans and critics alike. Now their faithful producer Jamie xx offers his own rendition by adding his distinctly upbeat house motif.
Accompanying the remix is a video directed by Alasdair McLellan, who also directed the original’s music video. In a way, the new visual component is a remix of his previous work with the band, using chopped video clips, a black and white color scheme and emphasizing the house party scene.
The remix is forthcoming on a 12” release, limited to 1,000 copies, that also includes Four Tet’s remix of The xx’s ‘A Violent Noise’.
