The Prodigy confirm Keith Flint’s cause of death as suicide
Liam Howlett says he is “shell shocked”
The Prodigy have confirmed news that broke this morning of frontman Keith Flint passing away.
In social media posts, bandmate Liam Howlett paid tribute to Flint and revealed the cause of death as suicide.
On Instagram he wrote: “The news is true , I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend, I’m shell shocked , fuckin angry , confused and heart broken ..... r.i.p brother”
A tweet on the official The Prodigy Twitter account reads: “It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed.
“We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”
Keith Flint is credited for helping to establish dance music’s credibility in the mainstream for his work with The Prodigy. He was the vocalist on hits such as 'Firestarter' and 'Breathe', which both topped the UK singles chart in 1996.
The Prodigy are also heralded as one the greatest live acts in electronic music history, whipping up unparalleled levels of energy at every show.
RIP Keith, you will be sorely missed.
