The Matrix soundtrack is getting red and blue pill vinyl reissues

The Prodigy are among those featuring

18 years since the release of The Matrix, the sci-fi film's soundtrack is getting its first ever vinyl re-release.

The Prodigy, Rage Against The Machine, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are among those who contributed music for the game-changing flick and now their tunes will be press to red and blue pill vinyl editions.

For those not familiar with the Keanu Reeves-starring movie, the blue pill represents what a human believes to be true, "wonderland", while the red pill represents someone who is aware of the Matrix, or the "rabbit hole" as Laurence Fishburne's character Morpheus calls it.

Only 1,500 copies will be sold, with stills from the movie included in the gatefold. It's out on August 4 via Real Gone Music.

News of the reissue arrives a few months after speculation about a remake started. It's believed the Wachowski siblings, who directed the original, will not be involved in the reboot.
