Terranova - 6/10

'Restless' (KOMPAKT)

Forming in the early 90s, Terranova have seen a fair few comparable punk-funk outfits arrive and vanish again without trace. Originally a fixture of !K7's post-millennial roster, the band released their comeback LP through Kompakt in 2012. Now, further aligning with the Cologne-based label, comes a sixth album that keeps one foot firmly on the floor – for the most part. Along the way there's a cast of vocalists including Stereo MCs' Rob Birch and house vocalist Mandel Turner, who takes the honours with 'Underverse'. As has been the case with their output in general, 'Restless' combines plenty of well-executed ideas with a few dud moments along the way.
