Hotflush Recordings has quite the knack for breaking new talent into prominence, with a back catalogue boasting debut releases from current scene heavyweights such as Joy Orbison, Mount Kimbie and George FitzGerald.

The label’s latest signing Daniela Caldellas will be hoping to achieve a similar trajectory with the inauguration of her techno project Terr.

Caldellas is no newcomer to dance music. She has made her mark as one half of Brazilian duo Digitaria, showing a flair for crafting tracks that move a dancefloor with a number of electro-influenced grooving house releases arriving through the likes of Hot Creations and Skream’s Of Unsound Mind imprint.

However, her discovery of electronic music through Dopplereffekt, Atom TM and Juan Atkins and time spent playing in punk bands during her teenage years meant an interest in murkier and more raucous sounds was always present within Caldellas. On the ‘Burn The Past EP, her first release as Terr, she digs deep and really lets this loose.

‘May Day’ on the B-side combines propulsive percussion, manic electro synth lines and echoing vocal chops to form an atmospheric, hand-raising cut of techno that sits right at home on Hotflush alongside bossman Scuba’s recent output. Check it out below.
