Stormzy: “Theresa May is a paigon”

He hit out at the PM after being handed a gong by Jeremy Corbyn at the GQ awards

Stormzy’s successful year continued apace last night as he picked up the Best Solo Artist trophy at the GQ awards.

Jeremy Corbyn presented the prize to the ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ rapper, who took his acceptance speech as an opportunity to “big up Jeremy Corbyn” and slam Theresa May, labelling her a “paigon”.

The slang term, meaning disloyal liar, confused many GQ crowd members and right-leaning Twitter accounts such as @Tory_Generation, who mistakenly reported Stormzy had called her a “pig”. “Good to learn new words,” reflected Alastair Campbell, one of the mistaken audience members, after apologising for his false report.

Champion of The Sesh Generation Jeremy Corbyn cracked a smile at the speech, with the Telegraph opening its report with the sensational blast “Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn smiled after Stormzy referred to Theresa May as a 'pagan' [sic] at the GQ awards.”
