John Frusciante, Venetian Snares and Chris McDonald reunite as Speed Dealer Moms

The trio haven't released music together in more than a decade

Speed Dealer Moms are back after not having released any music since 2010.

John Frusciante, guitarist for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aaron Funk aka Venetian Snares, and Chris McDonald aka The Alison Project have teamed up again to work on a three track EP called ‘SDM-LA8-441-114-211’, which comes out on June 18.

The project will be released on Evar Records, Frusciante’s label, both digitally and physically. The vinyl will contain unreleased music, with titles representing the date of recording and the number of takes before the track was finished. The project was recorded "live to stereo with no overdubs or edits, improvising arrangements", a press release says.

Their self-titled EP, released in 2010 on Funk’s Timesig label, was the trio’s last project, though they’ve regularly gotten together to record music over the last 10 years. Each member has released music within their own individual careers also, with Frusciante releasing a jungle album in 2020, while Funk released two albums in 2018. Macdonald’s last solo release was in 2005.
