Sonny Fodera in The Lab NYC

The Lab New York is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly afterwork party where we stream the best American and international DJs from the intimate bar next to our Brooklyn office. This week we had a very special Thursday (March 24) lab session with Sonny Fodera.

The Australian house behemoth was named one of Mixmag's 'Hot Six' back in 2013, and has since built a forceful reputation by releasing on Visionquest, Dirtybird, Suara, Cajual and Defected. Most took note of Fodera amid his blossoming friendship with Cajmere, a collaboration that landed him a huge series of EP and upcoming album releases on Velvet's esteemed label.

Fodera's keen taste in house, disco and funk explore new grounds as he embarks on a 25 city tour across the UK, Australia and the US this year. His latest works are an impressive month-long residency with Rinse FM and a massive three-disc release on Defected titled 'Sonny Fodera In The House'. The compilation offers edits and originals that speak to his tongue-in-cheek house flavor - featuring artists like Tiga, Audion, Doorly, Claude Vonstroke, Eats Everything, Mat.Joe and many more. To add to the excitement, the Aussie producer also promises an upcoming release on Lee Foss' highly anticipated 'Repopulate Mars' imprint.
