Snapped: 25 photos of Ricardo Villalobos & AMBIQ's modular set in Berlin
A rare collaboration from the electronic quartet
German techno outfit AMBIQ were joined by the multi-faceted DJ and producer Ricardo Villalobos to perform a collaborative modular techno set in Berlin.
AMBIQ, the trio of Max Loderbauer, Samuel Rohrer and Claudio Puntin, have decades of experience crafting mind-bending sonic excursions, whether with their own projects or as a group. Bringing in the charismatic Villalobos for a rare modular set promised a unique evening of experimentation, and the four artists did not disappoint.
What occurred at Funkhaus may be described by some as transcendent, as the four artists took listeners on a journey through a plethora of musical styles, from jazz and eclectic arrangements to more groove based material. Combining Villalobos and Loderbauer’s modular synths with the clarinet of Puntin and percussion of Rohrer proved to be a brilliant move, one that many around the world will be eager to see the next time they get together.
Until that day comes again, enjoy photos from the performance via the gallery above.
