Skepta to make a film on the rise of his grime label

An in-depth look at the development of Boy Better Know

The story behind Skepta’s Boy Better Know label and collective is being made into a film.

Following the release of his fourth full-length album, 'Konnichiwa', which won the 2016 Mercury Prize, and signing Drake to Boy Better Know, it’s clear the grime kingpin has big plans to continue showcasing his distinct vision.

Founded in 2005, Boy Better Know helped bring grime into the spotlight and consists of the industry's top players, including Wiley, JME, Jammer and more.

Although little is known about the film, in a recent interview with the Evening Standard, Skepta shared that he plans to focus on the formation of his crew, although “not in [a completely] autobiographical way”.

In other news, Skepta also shared that he developed a strong friendship with Adele, but a possible collaboration has not been confirmed: “Adele texts me all the time and keeps me in check. She speaks to me about how things are going. She’s one of the people I know that, from her example alone, you can move in a certain way where you’re not inviting fame.”

Look for more information regarding the film to surface soon.
