Six hospitalised after taking 'ups' pills

Six people were taken to hospital on Saturday night after reportedly taking the extra-strength UPS pills that are currently in circulation in the UK.

Though not believed to contain toxic ingredients such as PMA, the UPS pills are said to be three times as strong as the average pill for sale on the street, which means users could become overwhelmed by their effects.

According to police, a group of clubbers fell ill after attending a party at the Medicine Bar in Middlesbrough. The area's police force has issued its own warning about the potentially dangerous tablets.

Mixmag reported on the UPS ecstasy tablets at the weekend following a nationwide warning about their strength. Drug safety organisation The Loop has urged users to be extra careful when taking them and to "start with as low a dose as possible and wait at least one hour before considering redosing."
