London queer party Crossbreed has closed permanently
The sex-positive party has promised to refund ticket buyers following a series of allegations against its founder
Sex-positive, kink-positive queer party Crossbreed has announced that it will be closing.
Announced via a statement on Instagram yesterday, its founder Alex Warren (AKA Kiwi) wrote: “It is with great sadness that I announce that Crossbreed will be closing permanently.
“The team has made the decision that it is not possible to work with the Crossbreed brand further and as such I have to close the company down,” they continued.
“I want to thank everyone who has been a part of the last 3 years, everyone who has worked with us and everyone who danced. Words will never really be enough. This community is so special and I hope that in time other spaces will grow too.”
The party was put into the spotlight earlier this month, when allegations of sexual misconduct against Warren surfaced on an anonymous Instagram account.
Warren stepped down as the head of Crossbreed and said in a statement at the time called the allegations “some inaccurate and false stories”.
They continued: “The most serious accusations made on that page were not specific, but due to their nature and the impact it’s having on the Crossbreed team and the wider community – I have decided to step down from my role at Crossbreed and all involvement with Crossbreed moving forward.”
All of Crossbreed’s upcoming parties have been cancelled, and those who held tickets will be automatically refunded. The Instagram account for the party has also been deleted.
Prior to the allegations arising, Crossbreed had announced a new weekly Sunday residency at London’s Corsica Studios. The first party was due to happen last weekend (November 20) and featured Ostgut Ton affiliate Nick Höppner, but was eventually cancelled in light of the accusations.
