Seven people detained, one in custody in relation to Hideout Festival stabbing

One man has died while another is in critical condition

A 25- year-old British man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to a stabbing that took place during the Hideout Festival in Croatia this week.

The unnamed suspect was reportedly attempting to flee the country at an airport in the coastal town of Split on Thursday, the interior minister Davor Bozinovic said according to Sky News.

The arrest follows an incident on the Croatian island of Pag at the Kalypso club (pictured above), when a fight broke out on Wednesday, which lead to the death of a 26-year-old British man who was stabbed.

Two others were also injured during the fight, one of which was stabbed five times and is currently in critical condition. He is being treated at a local hospital. Edi Karuc, deputy director of a hospital in nearby Zadar, said "his life is in danger."

In total, seven people were detained in relation to the brawl.

A witness told Croatian newspaper Vecernji List about what took place after the fight: "A man fled into the toilet after seeing what had happened to his friend... I'm sure there are witnesses because there were many people there at the time, and everything happened in front of the fast food restaurant."

Hideout have released a statement on Facebook, saying: “We are giving every assistance to the investigation and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the people affected. As always, we are working closely with the local authorities with the safety and security of everyone on site as our top priority.”
