Saol Nua shares remix edition of 'The Dial' EP

Joshua James, Coco Cole and more are involved on the release, which has landed via La La's Brand New Records

Saol Nua has shared a remixed edition of his June EP 'The Dial' via Brand New Records.

The Glasgow-based Irish producer, DJ and promoter has invited Joshua James, Dalila, Ruby May Moon, Coco Cole and Jacko & Batch for the proceedings, with each taking one of the five original tracks - which spanned techno slammers, jazz house affairs and beyond - and making it their own.

Joshua James takes 'Saintly Tendencies' from a percussive-focused techno cut to offering more of a rolling, sexy groove whilst Dalila opts to shift the jazz house of 'Body Could Dance' by adding her own vocals, a deep bass and broken beat. Elsewhere, Ruby May Moon has morphed 'Nightmare on Mare St' from a driving cut into a gentle breakbeat-meets-house track, Coco Cole takes 'The Toucan' on a journey of warmth inspired by her south-English coastal location and Jacko & Batch close the record at full speed to convert 'Cold Wings' into a ferocious slice of techno.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with these five amazing remixers on this release," Saol Nua tells Mixmag. "Collaborating with artists in this way is one of my favourite things about making music, and I have plans to work with some of these producers more closely in the future. The remixer team sheet at Brand New Records is so strong, it’s a real privilege to be a part of such an exciting family of labels.”

"“Five wicked remixes from our label manager Saol Nua’s latest EP The Dial," adds labelhead La La, who founded Brand New Records in 2020 to support Scottish and Scotland-based artists. "It’s been nothing but a pleasure to welcome Joshua James, Dalila, Ruby May Moon, Coco Cole and the returning Jacko & Batch to Brand New Records. After four years of running my labels it’s still such a pinch me moment to see amazing artists come together on our projects. Troops, get this one in and about your ears."
