Saffron is expanding its educational programmes this summer to London and Nottingham
The Mix Nights DJ course and Saffron For Sound music tech course are intended to provide safer spaces for people of marginalised genders to learn the tricks of the trade
Bristol-based record label and non-profit Saffron Music, which is dedicated to tackling the gender imbalance in the music industry, is expanding its educational programmes.
Mix Nights, their DJ course, and Saffron For Sound, their music tech course, will be coming to London and Nottingham. They have already been running successfully in Bristol. Saffron For Sound is open to people of marginalised genders aged 16 and over, whereas Mix Nights is open to an 18+ audience.

Saffron For Sound will offer courses in music production and sound engineering, both running over four days. With both courses intended for beginners, the music production course will focus on Ableton Live 11 and the sound engineering course will look at recording and mixing in a DAW, studio and live settings.
Mix Nights will run for eight weeks with 2-hour weekly sessions. At the end of the course, the graduates will play their first set at a Mix Nights club night. Involving OK Williams, Saoirse, Shanti Celeste, Rosie Vacci B and Outsider, the graduates will learn the basics of DJing.
